FA Cup All Time Winners

I was curious which team has won the the FA Cup the most, as it is one of my favourite cup competitions, so I took a look at who has won the FA Cup the most and this is what I found out.

The most successful FA Cup Team is Arsenal who have won the FA Cup 13 times and have also finished as runners up 7 times.

Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger is the most successful FA Cup manager having won the cup seven times during his time with Arsenal.

There’s something about the FA Cup that brings out the nostalgia in people.  I remember as a kid spending the whole day getting ready for the match.

I would watch all the pre-match build up, which seemed to go on for hours.  I’d watch ‘Saint & Greavesie’ go through both teams as they always laid out the way each team had made it to Wembley.  And then as soon as they were done I switch to the BEEB and watch Grandstand, or whatever it was at the time.

It was a great day and it always seemed to lift the spirits of the people that lived in my community.  It didn’t even seem to matter if the team they supported were playing or not.

I’m a Man Utd fan, so my childhood, mainly the late 70’s early 80′, seemed to be dominated by Teams other than Utd making it to the final, especially Liverpool and Everton

Let’s have a look at the clubs that have won the FA Cup the most

Spurs have a great record in FA Cup Finals. Spurs have won eight out of the nine finals they have appeared in, with a 3-2 defeat to Coventry City in 1987 acting as their only defeat.  It used to be said that if the year ended in a 1, then Spurs won the FA Cup.  They has previously won in 1901, 1921, 1961, 1981, and 1991.

I can still vividly remember Ricky Villa’s mazey run to score a great solo goal to defeat Manchester City 3-2 in the 1981 final replay.

And when Gazza managed to injure himself in the final and he watched some of the match from hospital.  His foul, where he got injured, resulted in a great Stuart Pearce free kick being scored.
